A Science Day outreach activity was conducted on 14-02-2026 at Vidya Vikas Mandir by SSBS staff and students for 62 students of 9th and 10th standard, with participation from 7 teachers. The program aimed to promote scientific awareness and encourage interest in biological sciences through interactive learning and demonstrations.
Sessions covered ABO blood grouping, diabetes and blood glucose monitoring, hematology and blood cell staining, vaccination and HPV awareness, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), DNA extraction, and career opportunities in science. Students also observed and participated in practical demonstrations including blood grouping, glucose testing, microscopy of blood cells, and DNA isolation from buccal cells.
Overall, the activity successfully enhanced students’ understanding of biological concepts, promoted preventive health awareness, and inspired curiosity toward scientific careers
National Science Day is a day of pride for the entire nation as it commemorates the day that CV Raman discovered the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. We, at SSBS, celebrated the preceding week as Vigyaan Sarvatra Pujyate (Science is worshipped everywhere). We began our celebrations on the 24th of February 2022, entitled “Milestones of modern Indian science and technology.” We realised that while our teachers play a crucial part in our own stories we never get to know their journeys, so we arranged a small gathering where we got to here the experiences of our own faculty, of their experiences as they built their careers!
